Will you be next?
Our first “Biggest Winner, Ultimately Thinner” Contest had such incredible results, we’ve decided to run another contest starting in May! The only difference? This time it’s going to be every man (or woman!
) for him/herself. That’s right…this contest will be done with individuals instead of teams.
Interest in the contest has been HUGE and it’s important to us to provide the same level of support and service we’ve always offered, so we’re going to limit the number of participants. So, if you’re interested, don’t wait – REGISTER NOW! In 12 weeks you could be thinner, healthier, and $550 richer! Of course, you’ll need that money to buy some new clothes….just ask all of our participants from the first contest! They’re easy to spot in class….they’re the ones who keep having to pull their pants up! LOL
So why do our participants keep attending if they’ve lost so much weight? Because our workouts are FUN, INSPIRING, MOTIVATING, and of course, HIGHLY EFFECTIVE! They come to us as strangers and quickly become friends. Join us and become part of our group. It’ll change your life!
AND THE WINNER IS….
This Saturday we wrapped up our first ever “Biggest Winner, Ultimately Thinner” Contest with INCREDIBLE results! A measly .36% separated our first and second place teams. But in the end, the GREEN TEAM walked away with $1, 650! Congrats to Dave, Erin, and Diane who lost 54.4 pounds — a whopping 10.03% of their starting weight! Awesome work!
Of course, the Red Team was right behind them with a total percentage of weight loss of 9.67% and 61 pounds lighter! WOW! Here are some of our individual participants’ fantastic stats. Remember, all of these incredible changes happened in just 12 weeks!
| Participant | Pounds Lost | Percentage of Weight-Loss |
|---|---|---|
| Dave | 26.4 | 14.0 % |
| Tricia | 24.8 | 15.4 % |
| Josh | 33.4 | 12.14 % |
| Cristina | 22.0 | 11.11% |
| Diane | 14.0 | 8.54 % |
| Erin | 14.0 | 7.37 % |
| Megan | 10.8 | 6.43 % |
| Nery | 15.4 | 5.6 % |
And these are just a few of our superstars. I could go on forever here, because EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR PARTICIPANTS LOST WEIGHT! And not surprisingly, losing weight wasn’t their only accomplishment. They also decreased their body fat, increased their lean muscle mass, improved their cardiovascular fitness levels, and gained more energy and confidence. I think it’s safe to say that they’re all happier too!
12 weeks…..just 12 weeks. What can we do to help YOU?
Thanksgiving/Fall Scavenger Hunt
What do you get when you mix acorns and leaves with push-ups and squats? HD FitPro’s Fall Scavenger Hunt, of course! Super simple, lots of fun, and guaranteed to burn tons of calories. Erin and Carey won this Saturday’s Boot Camp game – though Kasey and Jesica do have every right to file an appeal since their list did have an extra item! (How’d that happen? LOL)
Here’s how to play:
Make a list of items you are able to find outside this time of year – or just use the list I made below. Write each item on an index card. The teams will pull a card, run to find the item, and bring it back to the central meeting point. Before they can grab their next card and run to grab that item, they have to do the exercise for that round. To determine how many reps of each exercise the team should do, they roll 2 dice and double the result. Each team rolls for itself, so one team might have to do 24 reps, and the other 4, but that’s just part of the fun!
Example scenario:
Team 1 flips their first card. It says “Orange Leaf.” They run to find a leaf with orange coloring. (The whole leaf doesn’t have to be orange because, well, this is Florida and most leaves are green!) After finding the leaf, they run back to the meeting point and the game judge tells them “jumping jacks.” They roll a 2 and a 6 and quickly do 16 jumping jacks. They pull their next card. It says “pine cone.” After bringing back a pine cone the judge tells them “crunches.” They roll a 5 and a 1 and perform 12 crunches before pulling their third card. (And so on!)
Here’s your challenge:
You know the usual routine that your family has right after eating the big Thanksgiving feast? The one where all of the women are in the kitchen cleaning and the men are watching football? Well the dishes can wait and DVR will pause the great game, so break the routine and have some FUN! Play our exercise scavenger hunt and make some room for that pumpkin pie!
Sample list of items: Acorn, Pine Cone, Yellow Leaf, Orange Leaf, Brown Leaf, Green Leaf, Pine Needle, Seed, Tree Bark, Stick
Sample exercises: Squats, Lunges, Push-Ups, Jumping Jacks, Tricep Dips, Crunches, Supermans, Mountain Climbers, Squat Jumps, Step-Ups
No Excuses
As you can imagine, I meet people all the time who tell me, “Oh, I wish I could be fit, I just…..,” or “I know I need to lose weight, but…..” And you know what? People are entitled to their excuses. Life happens. We’re busy. REALLY busy. We have families, jobs, kids, school, housework, commitments, and the list goes on and on. But we also have ourselves to take care of. And, in truth, the only thing that stands in our way of doing what we want to do, being who we want to be, and achieving what we want to achieve is us. No one else. Nothing else. Just ourselves. We’ve gotten really, really good at making excuses. So much so, they fly off our tongues rapidly and without much thought. I’ve seen the video below dozens of times and can’t get enough of it. Watch it, then tell me…..what’s your excuse? And really, is it an excuse? Or do you just not want whatever your goal is badly enough?
P.S. Wish you were fit? Wanting to lose weight? Our next boot camp starts Monday, July 6. We’ll see you then.
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. And, if you’re like many, you still haven’t figured out what to get for the special lady who painstakingly put up with you and your shananigans while growing up and STILL manages to love you more than anything else in the world. Well here’s two ideas that may help you on your plight. First off, many moms are in a constant struggle to keep themselves looking good. They focus on trying to eat healthily, losing weight, and hopefully getting in some regular exercise. These tasks are difficult ones which never have an ending point (much like raising a child!). So how about giving mom a little motivation towards her goals. You could go the easy way and purchase her some new workout clothes (something many women would like, but would never splurge on for themselves) or you could sign her up for a Fitness Boot Camp or personal training package just for her. OR, you could be a real motivator and commit to exercising with her! For those of you in the Orlando area, come check out our Boot Camps for free. We think you’ll be impressed with our level of commitment to our clients and the supportive and FUN atmosphere. And, in honor of Mother’s Day we’re going to offer our reduced couple’s rates to anyone who wishes to buy a Boot Camp Package for themselves and their moms. You’ll both get fit and have a great time while doing so. Go to our contact us page to send me an email for more information. Mom will be happy you did!
Easter Egg(xercise) & Food Tips
Today we had our first annual Easter Egg(xercise) Hunt! An incredible way to get in a great workout while having a great time. Try it at home with your family tomorrow! Our participants ran to find plastic eggs – each had a slip of paper with a different exercise in it. Congrats to Clarise – she won the hunt by gathering the most eggs and a total of 20 FitCredits to use towards a future package purchase. (Each FitCredit is worth $1, so Clarise basically got a free workout today AND $$ to use in the future!…….She definitely earned those credits, though…..She literally gathered every egg that had “up-downs” (burpees) hidden inside – close to 30 up-downs total! Quite a challenge!
Speaking of challenges – Easter Sunday is typically a day where you’ll be faced with many food challenges. The key is portion control, portion control, portion control. Other strategies include choosing larger amounts of the healthiest foods available at your feast and smaller amounts of the higher calorie (and fattier) foods. For example, it’s better to have more spoonfuls of fruits and veggies than potato salad. And really….if your “salad” has heaping tablespoons of regular mayonnaise in it, it’s really not much of a “salad” at all! Try using low-fat or fat-free versions of this item and others – like sour cream and cottage cheese. You’ll be doing your waistline a huge favor without notifying your taste buds.
Another tip is to make sure that you consume protein in addition to the readily available carbs and fat on most dinner tables. This way your body will have all of the building blocks you need. Ham and deviled eggs are great sources of protein (okay, it’s the egg-white that has the protein, not the mayo/mustard/yolk concoction piled high in the middle – a great place to use that “mayo tip”!) Finally, exert your own control of what you eat by preparing things yourself. If you take something to a gathering, that will be at least one food choice where you’ll know exactly what’s in it. One of the dishes I’m taking to my family’s gathering is Jell-O Jiggler Eggs. They’re delicious, and a much healthier option than consuming high calorie, fattening, and delicious sweet baked goods after dinner. Fix that craving for sweets without any guilt. J-E-L-L-O! Give it a try!
Went to a Conference
Hilarie and I went to a professional conference this weekend in Orlando. With Orlando being such a tourist destination, it is a very popular conference and trade show destination, making it very conveinent to accumulate our continuing education credits. So what do you think strength coaches and personal trainers do at their professional conferences? Just sit there and listen to presentations about exercise? “How boring!”, you may think. Well, sitting and listening was part of the weekend, but half the time we were sitting or lying on the floor trying to catch our breath! The other half of the time we were DOING the exercise, and it was quite a two-day, eight-hours-a-day workout! Within the first hour everybody was sweating and we bumped the AC in the room down to 55 degrees! The presenters did a good job of mixing lecture with applied, and no one was bored. It may come as a surprise to some that there wasn’t a treadmill, stepper, weight stack machine, bike, or dumbbell over 10 lbs in the room, and almost everyone was commenting on their soreness Sunday morning! What did we use? Our main piece of equipment was the oldest yet most forgotten equipment in the world – OUR OWN BODIES!!! Between lunges, planks, squats, and push-ups that we performed at intensities from beginner to advanced, we got a full body workout, including cardio. Add in the tubing, stability balls, medicine balls, ladders, balance discs, and foam rollers that we incorporated, and we essentially had a limitless supply of exercises to combine in infinite combinations! Hmmm…this is what HD FitPro has been about from the start! If you like the idea of getting a full body workout, never having to repeat the same workout, and never having to leave your home to do it, then give Hilarie or me a call today!
Exercise and Shopping!
Okay, so ideally you’ll continue to exercise about half an hour most days throughout this entire holiday season. But let’s be honest. Sometimes we just have so much on our to-do lists that exercise gets pushed to the bottom…or maybe that part of the list just gets torn off! Rather than skip the physical activity all together, be willing to give yourself a little bit of leeway this time of year as far as program regimen goes. Park in the farthest parking spot you can find from the mall doors. Walk briskly into the mall, from the mall, and in between the individual stores. Sneak in a few calf raises while you’re waiting in line to check out. So now you’ve got arm loads of packages and that car is parked forever away, right? Perfect. Use the extra walk time to do a few bicep curls, using the packages as your weights. Take two minutes before you drive away to perform a few leg stretches. Shoot, stretch your arms too – they’ll need it after lugging those bags! Use these quick tips and you may find that you’re actually able to stick with your exercise goals this holiday season. Save the formal stuff for your party attire!
